A visit from Owen[]

A few days after First Impressions, the player will experience the first rain. A cutscene of Sandrockers welcoming the first rain will start.

Afterwards, Owen will be outside the yard to greet the player.

Good morning, Player! I wanted to stop by to see the look on your face; this is your first rain in Sandrock, isn't it? What do you think, isn't it amazing!?
  • It's very nice!
  • It rains all the time in Highwind...
  • Holy moly! Wowee zowee! I'm blown awaaaay!
→It's very nice!
Haha, yeah it is, isn't it? Almost as breathtaking as it is rare...
Owen(Relationship +1)
→It rains all the time in Highwind...
Oh... right... I guess it does...
Well, a lot of people get really excited about days like today, so, eh... maybe just play along, even if this is all old news to you.
→Holy moly! Wowee zowee! I'm blown awaaaay!
Haha! Woah, Player! Didn't know you were such a fan of the rain. Glad I stopped by!

By the by, in honor of this momentous occasion, I’m throwing a celebration tonight down at the Blue Moon around 20:00. Coogo will play music on the stage, everyone will be there... It's gonna be a ball!
Hm, there was one more thing... Burgess wanted me to tell you... uh... something about... "conserve water?" No, you already knew that...
Oh, yeah! That is it! You might want to set out some Dew Collectors, other containers today. I have a feeling they'll be way more effective than usual; call it a hunch...
Alright. I better head off. Gettin' kinda damp out here. Blue Moon, 20:00, come hungry!

Owen leaves. Owen(Relationship +10).

Rain Celebration[]

The player can attend the Rain Celebration at the Blue Moon Saloon at 20:00. When they enter, they will see Owen talking on stage to a crowd of Sandrockers.

Welcome everyone! I want to thank you all for coming together tonight to celebrate what can only be called a miracle. I’ve lived here in Sandrock my entire life, and in all my rainy days, few as they may be, I never thought I'd see one quite so rainy as this...!
The skies opened up and our most precious resource fell down on us in rivers. It was truly humbling to see so much water at once.
In true Sandrock fashion, I saw neighbors helping one another to collect as much as they could in every bucket, vase, and container they could find, often working together to gather far more than anyone could alone.
As a result, Sandrock has been blessed this day with almost more water than we can store. But more than that, Sandrock has, once again, shown its people to be generous, clever, and kind to one another.
Tonight Cooper and Hugo are going to entertain us; Grace and I cooked up a feast, so to everyone: all you need to do is kick back, enjoy the tunes, and help yourselves to a meal.
Tomorrow we’ll be back to our dry, water-conserving selves. Tonight, we celebrate our good fortune, not just in the rain, but also our good fortune in having each other.
Let’s celebrate!

The band plays.

Post-conduct[]

Missing the celebration[]

If the player does not attend the Rain Celebration, they will receive a letter from Owen the following day.

Event: Rain Celebration (23)

Letter

Player,

Sure was a shame you missed the celebration last night! The band brought down the house, people danced and told stories, and we had a feast.

If we should be so lucky as to ever get rain in Sandrock any time soon, rest assured, we’ll celebrate again. Rain is always worth celebrating, and we love an excuse for a party here anyway. Make sure you don’t miss any in the future. We had a great time, but folks were wondering where you were. You were definitely missed.

At the very least, hope your water tank got filled to overflowing with all that beautiful sauce from the sky.

Owen

Future celebrations[]

After the first one, Rain Celebrations will happen automatically at 20:00 at the Blue Moon every time it rains.[verify]

Bubble text during celebrations.

Glad to see everyone’s smiling faces. Welcome!
Tonight, we celebrate another miracle in Sandrock. Rain!
I’m proud to be a part of a community that’s so willing to help one another, both in drought and in rain showers.
For once, we have more water than we have places to store it. We should truly appreciate our good fortune.
The Coogo band is here to entertain you, and Grace and I cooked up a feast.
Let’s celebrate!
